I Have Become a Bucket Man

I use buckets continually. I use them for storing my clothes, papers, grains, and also use them for growing.

Some indoor plants are now reaching the ceiling.

One day it is above freezing and the flowers bloom while other days it becomes frigid and cold.

Today, even the birds are lethargic.

The deer have lost their excitement knowing that there are more cold days ahead of them. I feel their pain but I've decided to bring a little green indoors.

I now have a Anaheim pepper plant that looks more like a tree than a plant. It likes being sheltered indoors.

I've been using lettuce. I like eating fresh lettuce in my tacos. They also like it indoors.

Have a good day. I think I'll start some cabbage plants indoors. It would be nice to have winter slaw.

My brother sent me this link. You can never get enough knowledge about foods. We may not be so concerned about living forever in a temporal body (How not to Die), but we want to be healthy enough to maintain a job.

Lately, I've dealt with many co-workers who have suffered colds. I've been working with the sick and they haven't disappointed me. They have been coughing, sneezing and breathing on me.  I've continued with my green tobacco elixirs (smoothies) and have yet to succumb to their illness. If tobacco (green not dried) doesn't help protect against viruses and germs, I want to know. I'm investigating its benefits by subjecting myself to sick people in the work place. The work place is the best place to be subjected to germs. Many in fear of losing their jobs continue to work while sick. Infection is rampant in a group of sick people.

Do your research into nicotine and you'll find statements like these:

Many explanations have been offered for the decreased incidence of some inflammatory and neurological diseases in smokers (1, 3, 12, 20, 27, 42). It is possible that the anti-inflammatory property of NT is, at least in part, responsible for the decreased incidence of these diseases in tobacco smokers (37).

How would you like to be one of those who might acquire a cold virus and yet have no symptoms? Scientists are finding that nicotine may help combat inflammatory responses? Do away with smoking tobacco and use it fresh and you might have a magic elixir for wellness.

In my case, it might be working. One week I felt like hell but yet had no symptoms of sickness other than tiredness, weakness and a headache (I could have been detoxing since I lost 4 lbs in a short time). No coughing, running nose, or sore throat. After that stage, I felt great. Following is the bedrock of my tobacco juice for work consumption. I am not recommending it to anyone. I'm just telling you what I am doing. Anything you do is at your own risk since nicotine is considered toxic.

1 small portion of green tobacco leaf (one table spoon or slightly more of shredded tobacco). More is never better when dealing with green tobacco.

1 cup of Sunny D orange and strawberry drink.

Cut up small portion of fresh tobacco leaf and blend it in your Nutri-Ninja (I never taste the tobacco).

I drink a small portion of the juice at every break time at work.

These are my indoor plants. They are safe from the freezing temperatures outdoors.

Winter's Garden

My bucket plants still look mighty fine. I took them indoors two times before the hard frost hit here in Missouri.

I had some of my lettuce in tacos the other night. It tasted great. I also had a ripe tomato. I had already harvested peppers so I'm saving those fresh ones growing in a bucket for later use.

Jeralean Tally

I like to read about centenarians. The aged are a blessing to us and inspires us to grow old gracefully. We can learn a lot by their example with what time we do have on this earth.

Jeralean Talley was one of those beautiful ladies that lived well past a hundred. She passed on to glory land at the age of 116. She had many hobbies that included fishing, bowling, making quilts, sewing dresses and watching her favorite television shows. She also liked playing slots at casinos.

Her diet consisted of eating comfort foods like chicken wings and Hog Head Cheese.

She attended  Missionary Baptist Church and no doubt had the support of many people who loved and prayed for her. She had one child, a daughter, Thelma Holloway, born in 1937. She also had many grandchildren.

Jeralean lived by the golden rule. She treated others the way she would like to be treated. She had faith in God and replied about her longevity, "Don’t ask me; ask Him,” She said. “That’s in the Lord’s hands.”

Her favorite foods were potato salad, honey buns, McDonald’s chicken nuggets, and Wendy’s chili. According to the Detroit Free Press, she drinks black coffee with sugar every morning.

She’s lived an active life. As a child, she worked long hours picking cotton and peanuts, and digging sweet potatoes. Her exercise consisted of waving her arms and kicking her feet.

There are many factors that contribute to longevity.  You might think that our life style has very little to do with it. I differ. It does matter. Sure, you may not live past a hundred but by living well we certainly can add years to our lives.  I think the most important thing is the quality of life than the quantities of years. We may not live long but the time we have in living we want them to be the best (healthiest) years of our lives.

Let's Exercise Our Necks

"Thy neck is like the tower of David builded for an armoury, whereon there hang a thousand bucklers, all shields of mighty men" Song of Solomon 4:4.

There is no doubt about it. The neck is a valuable part of our body.

Very few people exercise it. I wonder why? I remember as a kid I was made to do somersaults at school and ended up injuring my neck. I had years of pain before I found the solution to my ills. I started exercising my neck at a gym using a specialized neck exercise machine. It took only a week of exercise before all the pain left.

You would think that I would have continued exercising my neck but I have been very neglectful. Sometimes you feel that exercise is not that important. I often wonder, do I have to exercise every part of our body? Perhaps for a healthy and extended life we do.

I have found that extreme headaches were relieved by placing a massager at the back of my neck near the base of my skull. It relieved my head aches instantly. I recently have been having tinnitus (hearing pulsing noises in the ears). There are many reasons that can cause it but it has made me think about my neck and its circulation.

I tried a simple exercise where I lay across my bed with my head extended. I rotated my head in a circular motion. I was amazed at all the bone cracking sounds that I heard as I rotated my neck. Well, that was enough for me to start exercising my neck again.

If you have problems with you head, maybe you ought to do some neck exercises. I know it would improve circulation. I don't know about you but I want increase blood flow through my neck to my head. Maybe I'll become a genius with more blood flow to the many parts of my brain. At least I have already started becoming smarter in wanting to exercise one of the most important parts of my body. How about you? Are you up for the neck exercise challenge for a healthier head?

Easy Indoor Bug Removal

You might think you need to spray bug killer at this time of the year. Lady bugs are really bad at coming indoors. The simplest method of bug removal is by using a Dirt Devil vacuum.

Why mess around with ceiling bugs by catching them the old fashioned way by using your hand and tissue. Make your life more easier by using a hand vac with nozzle. I've had mine for three years.

After the Frost

I keep an eye on the weather report. Frost came a few days ago. I had the whole family help with the late harvest of tomatillos, and tomatoes. I also took my bucket crops inside my studio.

The rye and wheatgrass can survive a little cold.

I took my cilantro inside.

I also took my tobacco plants inside. I use a quarter of a leaf in my smoothies and orange juice blend.

I would like my tobacco plants to seed. I am starting to see flower buds. Maybe I'll get blessed with seed for next year.

It was a nice morning after work today. I like the fog. It is going to warm up to the 60-70's.

I tried to get a picture of a cardinal. The bird would not face me.

One last picture before resting for another late night shift. Salad anyone?

GOOD MORNING!  I would say "Good night" but I sleep during most of the day.
