Biochar Grass and Superdigger Revisited

You got to make biochar grass. Everyone is cutting their grass and what better use than biochar grass. Make a biochar can and start burning your garbage. My past posts tell you how to make one. 

Did you know that the carbon that is in the charred grass is a killer?   

• Charcoal – supposedly the slugs and snails don’t like the acidity and therefore avoid it, however, adding to much might not suit your plants either.

• Use wood ashes as a barrier around plants, however try not to let the plant come into contact with the ashes. The ashes act as a desiccant and dry the slugs up.

The best time to use the superdigger is after a rain. Dig your holes, add new soil, place your seed on top and cover with potting soil. I made four holes today and it was so easy. I have a piece of aluminum trim that I use to hammer out the dirt from the digger. It really is a non-messy way to dig a hole. I'd rather use the superdigger than a post hole digger. However, when it is dry, the digger will not lift out the dirt and becomes extremely hard to dig a hole. In dry conditions you would be better of using your post hole digger.

Hint: When using the digger the moist clay soil will stay in the tube. Find a place to release the dirt and than release (hammer it out with a rod) in that spot. What a clean way to make a planting hole.
