Technique: Hole Making in Bales
Growing in a bale is easy. Buy or get some old spoiled square bales. Find a place in the middle and use your post hole digger or a spade to get started.
Spread the straw or hay apart. Go as deep as you can go.
Use your superdigger or a 4" PVC with pipe fittings. Mine is reduced from 4"-3"- 2". Plunge the pipe with fittings into the indention made by post hole digger.
Continue making the planting hole by going in a circular motion.
Fill your newly made hole with soil and plant your seeds or seedling. This technique works great for aged bales. The new solid bales might pose a problem in making a planting hole.
