Techniques for Home Balers (update 4/18 on slicking up your twine)

Hint 1: When you keep your twine outdoors the twine becomes brittle and dry. Use a little silicon on your knot to help cinch up your bale. Twine that's dry easily breaks.

Update: Silicon spray doesn't work. I just tried olive oil spay and the knots cinched up without a stick. Try vegetable sprays, I think they are better than toxic silicon.

Last Update 4/18: I tried canning wax or paraffin. It works the best. You drag the line across the square of paraffin and it helps slick up the dried twine.

Hint 2: While holding the loose end of twine, push down on the knot with a piece of wood as shown in the picture. This really cinches the twine without having to pull hard with your hands. Twine can cut grooves in your hands if you don't use a cinching stick.
