This picture shows you a bale in a open trench. If I remove the bale, there will be water still in the trench. The bale does not impede the water. The bale will continuously be drenched in water until its starts to spoil. Spoiled hay retains moisture better than a dry hay bale.
Watering is easy in a trench. Stick your hose nozzle at one end and let it trickle down the trench. It will water all your plants in your hay bale habitat. Make sure you bury your bale. We do not want air circulation. It will only dry out your bale and plant.
